Art Fields

Miami based artist Peggy Armand has been selected to be part of Artfields 2018 with works from her "CAUGHT IN THE NET" series in a competition that brings together over 400 master pieces from an exclusive group of artist to Lake City

More about the event

ArtFields started in 2013 with a simple goal: honor the artists of the Southeast with a week’s worth of celebration and competition in the heart of a traditional Southern small town. With more than $120,000 up for grabs — and awarded based upon the input of every visitor to ArtFields and a panel of judges made up of acclaimed artists and educators, the competition offers life-changing cash prizes to artists across all media who live in 12 Southeastern states.

More than 400 masterpieces will be displayed in locally-owned venues, from renovated circa 1920s warehouses and Smithsonian-qualified art galleries to upscale restaurants and start-up boutiques, in a celebration of art and community. What was once one of South Carolina’s most prosperous agricultural communities becomes a living art gallery as we recognize, celebrate, and share the artistic talent of the Southeast.

EXPANSE: LINDA RICHICHI

EXPANSE: LINDA RICHICHI

“Linda Richichi: E X P A N S E” featuring fine oil paintings by Sarasota’s Linda Richichi. The exhibition’s opening reception is Friday, February 9 from 6 to 9 pm with an artist meet and greet.

E X P A N S E is an in-depth look into the newest oil paintings by Linda Richichi. This exhibition will feature Richichi’s plein air paintings of Sarasota’s most awe-inspiring scenes. Working from her own paintings and studies in situ rather than photographs, Richichi’s larger works draw from the energy, color, and spirit of the landscape. Expanding and pushing the boundaries of classic plein air painting, Richichi crops specific elements of nature as a subject matter -- sunlight dancing across clouds or waves calmly crashing against the sand. While remaining representational, these works are abstracted, and the focuses shifts to Richichi’s brilliant eye for color eye, playful brushstrokes, and texture from the palette knife.

After moving to Sarasota about three years ago and joining the 530 Burns Gallery roster of talented artists, Richichi has quickly become one of the gallery’s most sought-after artists and has spent the past two summers as the Gallery’s Artist in Residence.  She is a current member of the Oil Painters of America and a signature member of the California Plein Air Painters, NY and International Plein Air Painters. Notably, in 2012, Richichi was voted as National Best Intuitive Artist from About.com (then a NY Times company).

Richichi feels she was always supposed to live in sunny Sarasota. Her commission work dazzles each client, as they receive the energy and spirit of a scene they love and cherish.  Any piece by Richichi captures her delightful demnor and the free-spirit of each brushstroke.  530 Burns Gallery will provide cocktails, light refreshments, and music for the opening reception, Friday, January 12 from 6 to 9 pm.
